As you walk down the fijian streets it’s busy, there’s marketers, cars and mopeds. It smells humid not fresh like the taxi you just arrived in. A large glass window catches your eye, it’s square
I peep out my window just after 12. Chilly air seeps through the cracks in the frame and onto my resting hands. The pale glow of the crescent in the heavens shimmers through the glass and towards my tired skin. Trees, just dim shadows and the air so clear in the crisp bewitching hour. A twitch in the bushes, maybe a bird grasps my attention enough for me to jump. To alarmed to investigate I leap back into my sheets and fall into a slumber, dead to the world around me.
Transgender women should not be allowed to compete in the female fields at the olympics. Since 2004 transgender’s have been allowed to compete at the olympics. They are only to compete if they show they have been and undergone sex reassignment surgery and have legal identification of their gender. It has been brought to people’s attention that having a man that has gone through a surgery that changes him to a female has a great advantage when they are competing in a women’s field in sport. Although, in 2005 it was ruled out that a trans women competing in a women’s field was only allowed if their testosterone levels were under 10 nanomoles per litre which is almost double what a biologically born female has as they only have 2.8 nanomoles.Otago university professor Alison Heather explains that a woman’s muscles could have increased muscle fibres after being a male. This then allows the muscles to train better and remember the previous genders muscle habits also known as muscle memory. It is clear to me that a trans woman that competes at the olympics as a female has an unfair advantage and should compete in their previous genders field. They are better off competing against other males as they can have higher testosterone levels than biologically born females.
“I would the fool were married to her grave” -Lady Capulet
What the quote means on it’s own: Lady Capulet is calling her daughter a fool as she is refused to marry Paris and that she’d rather see her dead than not be married.
Unpack: Fool
Below are the many different ways fool can be defined as or used as. The one that I think Lady C is using is someone who’s ‘acting foolish or silly’ as she thinks it is silly that Juliet doesn’t want to marry paris
It relates to the play a lot as Lady Capulet says it because Juliet may end up dying at the end of it all
Is love an invention created by humans?
It’s not exactly a creation it’s more of a feeling that people get when they feel strong affection for someone or something. A creation or creating something means the action or process of bringing something to existence. An invention is the action of inventing something. Yeah humans would have created or invented the word love but they wouldn’t have created the feeling that everyone feels today when their in love as it is more of an emotion.
If I’m being kind to you but you think I’m being horrible, am I being kind or not?
I think that it all comes down to people’s ways of saying things and how they say it. For example if your saying wow that’s cool to someones project to make it sound kind you need to add emphasis to your voice. Otherwise if you say it sarcastically or bordly then you’d make that person feel horrible about themselves and their work because they think your dissing it.
This platform has been created to enhance and enrich your learning at Mount Aspiring College. Its purpose is to provide you with an audience for your work (or work-in-progress) and you have the choice (by altering the ‘visibility’ of your posts) of whether your work on here is visible to the world, or only to your teacher.
Anything you post here in the public domain represents you and thus it’s important that you take care with that decision, but don’t be afraid to publish your work – as the feedback you may get from people at home, your peers and people from around the internet is only likely to enhance it.
Remember you can always access your class blog and all manner of resources through the Department of English main website – and by all means check out the sites of your peers to see what they’re getting up to as well.
If you have any questions for me, an excellent way to get an answer is to create a new private post on this journal. I am notified of any new posts and will reply swiftly to any queries.
Make the most of, and enjoy this new freedom in your English learning.
Righto!
